Our Story
The Kopp Foundation for Diabetes began with one young innovator’s mission to change the future of T1D. As a teenager living through the realities of chronic illness in his community, Max Kopp invented a non-invasive glucose monitor and realized the power of youth-led innovation. He founded the Foundation to ensure others—especially young people—wouldn’t have to face diabetes alone or in silence.
Today, we harness that same spirit by equipping young leaders with the tools to reimagine T1D detection, treatment, and advocacy. Through research partnerships, youth-led campaigns, and access programs, we are building a future where no child’s potential is limited by diabetes.
Why Type 1 Diabetes?
Though only 5–10% of diabetes cases are T1D, it strikes early and demands lifelong insulin therapy. Many children and teens—especially in underserved communities—face steep barriers to care, education, and hope. We are here to change that.
Our Impact
We’re building a model in Philadelphia that we can replicate nationally and globally—with a focus on T1D youth populations.
