There are thousands of nonprofits asking for your money. You have limited resources. You want to know: does this actually matter?
It is a fair question. And KFD has a specific answer.
What Makes KFD Different
Most diabetes organizations are large, established institutions focused primarily on research funding and policy advocacy. That work is vital. But it leaves enormous gaps, particularly for young people who need practical support right now.
KFD was built to fill those gaps. We are youth-led, which means the people running our programs understand T1D from the inside. We are lean, which means more of every dollar goes to direct programs. And we are focused on the community members who are most underserved.
Where Your Donation Goes
- $25: Provides educational materials and resources for a family newly diagnosed with T1D
- $50: Supports one month of Youth Ambassador Program activity including mentorship sessions, training, and community events
- $100: Funds one week of campus chapter programming, including meeting space, materials, and ambassador support
- $250: Helps a family access a continuous glucose monitor they could not otherwise afford
- $500: Funds a full month of our free T1D helpline, providing support to dozens of patients and families
- $1,000 or more: Contributes to KFD’s biosensor research program, supporting the next generation of non-invasive glucose monitoring technology
The Case for Monthly Giving
One-time donations are meaningful and appreciated. But monthly giving is transformative.
When you give $25 per month, you contribute $300 per year. Over three years, that is $900, enough to provide a year of CGM assistance for a young person who cannot afford it. Monthly gifts allow KFD to plan ahead, hire staff, and build programs with confidence.
The Urgency
One in four people with T1D rations insulin because they cannot afford it. Insulin rationing kills. This is not a distant, abstract problem. It is happening right now, in every state, to real people.
KFD’s financial assistance programs provide direct help to families in crisis. When you give to KFD, you are funding insulin for a child who needs it.
